    Many employers just wrapped up their 2019 benefits renewals and open enrollment periods.  That makes this the perfect time to start planning for 2020!  Often, the most limiting factor in making a change is the feeling that you've run out of time.  This series of two-hour seminars will lay the foundation for evaluating your organization's employee benefits strategy - ahead of schedule!

    Session 2 - Refinance

    What is the best way to finance our plans?  Do we need an insurance product to offer a health or disability plan?

    Hour 1 will provide a detailed education on self-funded health and welfare benefits. We will review this as a potential solution for small and large employers alike.  We will answer the question of "Is it too risky?" and summarize the transition into and out of these programs.

    Hour 2 will focus on cost control.  Building on the understanding of self-funded plans, we'll compare alternative models like consortiums, captives, and trusts.  We will explore additional cost-control strategies like reference-based pricing and value-based insurance design.  Finally, we'll highlight some hidden costs in what appears to be a transparent program.

    Who: Rich Wilber is entering his 12th year in the employee benefits industry.  Most of that time was spent as an insurance broker and compliance director for a local agency, formerly known as Hartman Employee Benefits.  After spending some time as the commercial product design manager for Geisinger Health Plan, Rich was eager to get back to client-facing work.  He started a new firm, Aperture Consulting, in 2018 to continue providing consulting and brokerage services to local employer groups.
